IMMINENT work by United Utilities to create new buildings at a wastewater treatment works at Mobberley is set to take 75 weeks to complete.

The water company is seeking planning approval from Cheshire East Council at the Great Warford works off Noah’s Ark Lane to create three kiosks to accommodate future population growth and to improve water quality.

Site activities are due to start at the end of this month with site clearance, compound set up and the installation of a temporary haul road on land next to the works. The construction programme is due to last 75 weeks.

The installation of the chemical dosing motor control centre kiosk, ferric storage kiosk and caustic soda storage kiosk, for which planning consent is sought, is set to start in April 2021, with completion planned for April 2022 to satisfy the requirements of the Environment Agency.

Increased traffic movements will take place between October and December, and February and April 2022, and a traffic management plan has been produced for the work.

When construction lorries arrive from the south or east they will access the site using Pedley House Lane before entering Ancoats Lane and Noah’s Ark Lane.

When vehicles arrive from the north or west they will access the site using Warford Lane before turning on to Noah’s Ark Lane.

All lorries will be escorted from Ancoats Lane or Warford Lane down Noah’s Ark Lane to the works.

A report with the application said: “Engagement with local residents will be maintained throughout construction, and timings of construction traffic movements will be discussed to minimise disruption where possible.”

On average there will be about eight HGVS accessing the site, totalling 16 movements a day, in addition to staff coming in and out.

The report added: “We will communicate with the local community through the use of letters and signage around the site, keeping the local customers and community updated throughout the project life cycle.”
