A NEW food store has opened its doors in Chester today (October 20).

Supermarket chain Iceland has invested more than £750,000 and created 30 jobs to bring one of its 'Food Warehouse' branded stores to Chester Retail Park.

The new store has opened at the former Mothercare unit in Old Seal's Way, which had previously been the subject of interest by Smyths Toys.

To mark the occasion the first 500 shoppers received a free tub of 'Celebrations'.

During the opening week, customers also have the opportunity to win money off vouchers when they shop in store, plus other giveaways.

Launched just five years ago, The Food Warehouse now has more than 120 stores across Britain and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon, with significant growth plans for the year ahead.
