MORE than 560 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Cheshire East and West boroughs over the weekend.

The latest figures from Public Health England show the number of Covid-19 cases recorded by 9am today, October 19.

Cheshire West, including Northwich and Winsford, saw its biggest number of new coronavirus cases over a weekend to date from 9am on Friday, October 16 to 9am today.

The borough has now seen a total of 4,422 Covid-19 cases since the pandemic began.

That is an increase of 116 since 9am on Sunday, and a total increase of 310 in the three days since 9am last Friday.

That compares to 293 coronavirus cases in the three days up to 9am on October 12, 287 in the three days up to 9am on October 5 and 88 in the three days up to 9am on September 28.

However, Cheshire East has seen its lowest number of coronavirus cases recorded over a weekend so far in October.

The borough, including Knutsford and Middlewich, has now seen a total of 4,661 Covid-19 cases since the pandemic began.

That is an increase of 109 since 9am on Sunday, and a total increase of 254 in the three days since 9am last Friday.

That compares to 262 cases in the three days up to 9am on October 12, 337 in the three days up to 9am on October 5 and 79 in the three days up to 9am on September 28.

It means both boroughs have seen 564 new cases of coronavirus in total over the weekend – a drop on the weekend peak of 624 cases a fortnight ago, up to 9am on October 5.

This weekend was the first since Cheshire East and West entered a tier two lockdown, preventing households from mixing indoors.
