MORE than 200 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed across Cheshire East and West in just 24 hours.
New figures from Public Health England cover the 24-hour period up to 9am on Monday, October 12.
In Cheshire West, including Northwich and Winsford, there were 108 new cases in that time.
The total across the borough now stands at 3,714 cases since the pandemic began.
Meanwhile in Cheshire East, which includes Middlewich and Knutsford, there were 98 new cases in 24 hours by 9am today.
That takes the total across the borough to 3,969 since the pandemic began.
Both boroughs have been placed into a 'tier two' lockdown, with coronavirus ranked at a 'high' risk level.
Speaking in the House of Commons today, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said: "We must act to save lives.
"This is not how we want to live our lives but this is the narrow path we have to tread.
"With all the lessons we have learned in the last few months we are becoming better and better at fighting this virus."
