A FURTHER 185 cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Cheshire West and Chester over the weekend, according to the latest Government data.

As of 4.02pm yesterday (October 11) the total number of cases for the borough since the start of the pandemic is 3,606.

In Saturday's Government update a total of 107 new cases had been recorded, while yesterday's update revealed 78 further cases in the area.

The weekly infection rate for Cheshire West and Chester, as of October 8, stood at 169.6 (582 cases) per 100,000.

The borough has already been highlighted as an 'area of concern' by the Government.

Meanwhile, the Countess of Chester Hospital Trust did not report any further deaths of patients testing positive for coronavirus over the weekend.

However, the county's three other hospital trusts all recorded additional deaths, according to NHS England.

The total number of people who have died in Cheshire hospitals after testing positive for coronavirus now stands at 746.

The Countess of Chester Hospital Trust has recorded 229 deaths (the last on October 6), Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has recorded 216 deaths, (the last on October 8); East Cheshire NHS Trust 149 (the last on October 6), and Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust 152 (the last on October 9).
