THE new season is finally here for Knutsford FC.

Reds' new manager Nick Eaton and a new-look squad are ready to test themselves in the 17-team Cheshire Football League Premier Division.

They will be seeking considerable improvement on the third from bottom position last season's group found themselves in before the Covid-19 pandemic cut proceedings short.

While some sides have already played as many as five games in the new campaign, Knutsford are one of three to kick-start their season on Saturday and their first opponents will be a visit to Manchester Road by Warrington side Eagle Sports.

The visitors have lost two and drawn one of their opening three games and Knutsford will be aiming to inflict further woe.

Reds go into this weekend's action in a good frame of mind after winning their final friendly 3-1 against North West Counties League side Stockport Town.

Andrew Hurst and Greg Mathers, two, bagged the goals on their debuts.

"The performance was good," said chairman Jimmy Evans.

Now the attention switches to carrying that form into the league campaign.

Focus will switch to knockout action a week later though when Knutsford will host Partington in the Cheshire Amateur Cup.

Both games will start at 2pm.
