CREWS from seven fire stations went to the aid of cow that was stuck in a Northwich canal.
Firefighters from Northwich, Lymm, Penketh, Winsford, Widnes, Warrington and Bollington were called to the Trent and Mersey Canal near Church Road, Little Leigh, Northwich at around 7.30pm on Friday.
Also attending was a water incident unit from Warrington and an animal rescue unit from Bollington.
On arrival crews discovered that the cow was stable and not distressed.
A farmer was in attendance.
Two members of the water incident unit from Warrington got into the canal. One was on a raft and the other was in the water.
Working from the bank of the canal, an animal rescue team from Bollington then used slings to get the cow out of the canal with the aid of farm machinery operated by the farmer.
Firefighters were in attendance for nearly two hours.
