A MAN charged with causing injuries to two people by dangerous driving in connection with a crash between a car and a van carrying a rock band has appeared in court.

A Renault Megane was in collision with a Citroen Relay van near to the junction of Lingholme Road with Boundary Road and Kirkland Street, St Helens in the early hours of Saturday, May 19, 2018.

The van, which was left on its side, was carrying the band Salander, who were on their way home from a gig shortly before 1am.

A woman band member, who was a passenger in the van, had to be cut out of the van and was treated in hospital.

Police charged a 37-year-old man with two counts of causing injury by dangerous driving in relation to the crash.

Michael Stanley Cook, of Eldon Gardens, Ashton-in-Makerfield, is charged with causing serious injury to Susan Green and James Green by driving dangerously.

Cook appeared at Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates' Court.

The case was sent to Liverpool Crown Court where Cook will next appear.

Cook has been granted unconditional bail until his next court appearance on Wednesday, September 30.
