PLANS to build homes on the site of a former social club have been given the go-ahead.
Proposals to build four houses at the location of the now demolished Haydock Working Mens Club on Penny Lane, Haydock had been submitted to the council.
A design and access statement said the proposed development was for four units "comprising of two pairs of semi-detached two storey houses with three bedrooms"
It said each unit would have "a large garden extending to the rear of the site."
Plans added: "Rows of terraced houses surround the site making it the ideal site for further residential development"
There will be two parking bays per house, making a total of eight.

A council planning officer report recommended the proposals for approval.
It noted there had been two letters of objection and two in support of the application from residents.
In a report, case officer Daley Parsonage concluded: "The benefits of the scheme would include the redevelopment of a vacant brownfield site in the urban area site to provide four dwelling houses, providing a satisfactory living environment for the future occupiers.
"On balance it is considered that the proposal would deliver a sustainable form of development".
The plans were given the green light.
