STAFF from Tabley House Nursing Home at Knutsford will be stepping out on Saturday to help beat cancer.

About a dozen staff from the home are taking part in their own Race for Life to support Cancer Research UK.

Hundreds of Race for Life events have had to be cancelled this year because of the coronavirus pandemic.

To keep the spirit of the national event alive this year organisers are inviting people to run, walk or jog a Very 2020 Race for Life on September 26 from their park or back garden, on their own or in their social bubble.

Moyra Long from Knutsford is a healthcare assistant at Tabley House, and has taken part in two Race for Life events at Tatton Park.

She is one of the staff who are taking part on Saturday, with the team setting off on their four-and-a-half mile fundraiser from The Slow and Easy pub at Lostock Gralam at 11.30am.

They plan to stop half way at The Smoker pub at Plumley for a meal before continuing on to Tabley House Nursing Home.

Moyra has already raised £185 through sponsorship, and each staff member taking part expects to have raised at least £50.

The staff will be wearing pink Cancer Research UK T-shirts as they walk alongside the bypass, and are inviting motorists to honk their horns as they pass to show their support.

If anyone would like to donate they can do so at the nursing home.
