OPINIONS vary wildly on the need for tighter controls over lockdowns, and even if there should be lockdowns at all.

But regardless of your thoughts on that, I surely can’t be the only one who is left perplexed by the way these announcements come into force.

On Friday it was declared that tighter restrictions would come into effect in Lancashire - but not Blackpool, must be the sea air and nothing to do with the Illuminations!

And yet, these regulations, which are deemed to be so necessary, would not come into force until today - and look what happened over the weekend as a result with the massed hordes descending on the seaside town like locusts on a ripe field of corn.

This is not the first time that ‘essential’ measure have been announced but don’t begun inmediately.

So why the delay? If lockdowns are so vital to prevent much bigger problems ahead then surely immediate implementation has to follow.

All giving advanced noticed does is encourage the numpties who brought this on us in the first place to enjoy a last hurrah with their mates spreading infections wider.
