FIVE-year-old Zeb Nelson from Holmes Chapel has spent his days during lockdown teaching other youngsters across the country how to practice their swimming skills from home.

During lockdown, Puddle Ducks, a nationwide baby and child swim school, has been sending out weekly newsletters to their customers, explaining fun techniques that children can practice at home to continue developing their swimming skills, despite not being able to visit the pool.

Zeb, the son of Ruth Nelson, strategic brand and marketing manager at Puddle Ducks' head office in Twemlow, was included in nearly every weekly update as his mum videoed and photographed him demonstrating the swimming techniques on dry land to instruct other children.

Demonstrating swimming skills such as breaststroke leg movements and backstroke kicking, Zeb certainly got his swimming practice in over the 18 weeks when pools were forced to close.

Zeb said: “It was so much fun helping my mum with the exercises. I got to practice my swimming and also show all the other children who swim with Puddle Ducks how to practice too.”

Ruth said: “Zeb was a great assistant throughout lockdown, helping me create content for our newsletter.

“We hoped the virtual newsletters would be a fun, interactive activity to help occupy children who were off school and out of the pool for many months."
