WALKERS are being urged to close all footpath gates behind them to prevent cows escaping.
The call comes from a Knutsford Police Community Support Officer, who was called to reports of cows running along Beggar Man’s Lane.
The officer said on Facebook: “This morning (Tuesday) I set out to do an hour of TruCam [speed enforcement] on Chelford Road when I was diverted by reports of 15 cows running up and down Beggar Man’s Lane.

“Some brilliant members of the public had managed to get them into a field, and they are now with the farmer and are not hurt.
“Unfortunately it seems the gate to their field had been left open. Please make sure you stick to the public footpaths and close all gates behind you to avoid this happening again.”
