PLANNING permission has been given to convert a barn on Ways Green Farm into nine homes.
The former barn, which was re-constructed in 2009, will also provide a number of car parking spaces for residents of the eight of the homes will be apartments, with a ninth being a duplex unit.
Five of the flats will be one-bedroom, three will contain two-bedrooms, and the duplex apartment will have three bedrooms.
Including five one-bedroom apartments also means the scheme fits in well with Winsford Town Council’s neighbourhood plan, which seeks to increase the number of smaller dwellings in the town.
The town council recently objected to a proposal to convert two flats in Whitegate into a house on those grounds.
However, the rest of the farm, less than a mile away from Winsford town centre, will remain in use for agriculture and equestrian purposes.
The plans are not the first time the site has seen a bid for development — numerous attempts have been made since 2005, including a 2016 scheme to build 119 homes on the site.
