FIREFIGHTERS were called out to rescue a 30-year-old horse that had fallen down a steep embankment into water in Middlewich on Sunday.
Two fire engines from Middlewich and Lymm were sent out to Sutton Lane at 10.14am along with the animal rescue unit from Lymm.
On arrival, they found the horse – named Shadow – had fallen down the embankment and was stood at the side of the River Wheelock.
Crews initially used cutting equipment to clear the foliage and make a pathway to the horse.
They then used specialist animal rescue equipment to help the horse to the top of the embankment.
In a post on Facebook, Middlewich Fire Station said: "We assisted the horse back to safety and his owners, luckily with no injuries."
