THE developer behind housing schemes in and around Wilmslow is keen to acquire extra land in the area.

Paul Darwin, senior land manager for Elan Homes in the North, said: “Wilmslow is known for its high-quality housing, and this in part is what makes it such a sought-after place to live.

“Under the Local Plan there needs to be around 45 new homes built there each year, and the developments Elan has progressed have contributed around 25 per cent of that target.

“To help ensure there is a future housing supply in the area we are keen to acquire additional land with development potential.

“We look forward to speaking with landowners and their representatives to understand where we could unlock development potential and contribute to the council’s targets for delivering new homes.”

Elan was shortlisted in the 2018 Northern Design Awards for bringing a former garden centre site on Moor Lane back into good use as new homes.

Known as The Larches, the development provided 10 bespoke- designed private sale properties and affordable bungalows in association with Southway Housing Trust.

As part of the development Elan provided green space investment of £42,000 towards upgrading Gravel Lane junior play and access improvements to Lindow Common and Carnival Field.

A further £10,000 was provided for pitch improvements at Carnival Field, along with a local secondary education investment of £32,000.

More recently Elan redeveloped another former brownfield in the greenbelt site, also on Moor Lane.

The Lindow Fields development provided 14 new homes, including four affordable homes for Step Forward Housing.

Associated with Lindow Fields Elan provided £42,000 to improve play and amenity facilities at the Gravel Lane and Fulshaw Recreation Ground, £10,000 towards works at the Jim Evison playing fields and pavilion and £65,224 for additional primary and secondary school places in the area.
