A DEDICATED supporter of St Luke’s could not let her landmark 90th birthday pass without lending even more support to the Winsford hospice.

Jean Lewis was a member of the hospice’s Northwich Support Group from its inception along with her late husband Don – both spending many days doing street collections, car boot sales and major fundraising events.

She also spent time as a lottery collector around Hartford, and worked at the Northwich St Luke’s shop for 28 years.

And instead of gifts for her 90th birthday, Jean asked for donations to St Luke’s instead, leading to more than £200 being raised for the hospice’s vital work.

Knutsford Guardian:

Thanks to good weather earlier this month, Jean celebrated her milestone birthday with an outdoor party at home, where she was joined by some friends, family and neighbours.

While coronavirus restrictions meant a larger gathering was not feasible, Jean was still able to connect with her four surviving siblings online over video call – including one who lives on America’s west coast – who sang Happy Birthday to her as she blew her candles out.

Daughter Yvonne Swan: “She was a queen for the day and enjoyed every bit of her birthday.

“She really wasn’t expecting a party because of Covid restrictions so when she saw so many family and friends arrive she was thrilled.”
