VUE Cinema in Birkenhead is set to reopen later this month as lockdown restrictions continue to ease.

The venue will welccome cinema fans back on Wednesday, August 26, in time for one of this year’s most hotly-anticipated sci-fi blockbuster Tenet.

Christopher Nolan's latest film features John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Dimple Kapadia, Martin Donovan, Fiona Dourif, Yuri Kolokolnikov, Himesh Patel, Clémence Poésy, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Sir Michael Caine and Kenneth Branagh.

Armed with only one word - Tenet - and fighting for the survival of the entire world, the Protagonist journeys through a twilight world of international espionage on a mission that will unfold in something beyond real time. Not time travel. Inversion.

Other favourites hitting the big screen include the Harry Potter series, La La Land, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.

But the world has changed – and so has Vue.

Social-distancing guidelines are in place to ensure customers can enjoy the cinema as safely as possible.

They include:

  • Online booking, to make visits as contactless as possible.
  • Enhanced cleaning protocols and Employee PPE are in place.
  • Physical distancing seating apart from others.
  • Staggered film times will be implemented to maintain physical distancing and reduce the number of people at any one time in foyers and corridors.

Tony Bywood, general manager at Vue Birkenhead, said: "We're really pleased to be preparing to reopen our cinema once again and we look forward to welcoming film fans back soon.

"We've been working hard to ensure our site meets safety protocols in line with the latest government guidance."

All safety measures will also be clearly signposted at the entrances and throughout the building, and will be in line with government and public health guidance.

Customers will be required to wear a face covering during their visit, although this can be removed to consume food and drink.

Tony added: "We want film-lovers in surrounding areas to know that the quality of our viewing experience remains unchanged and customers will continue to enjoy the best audio and picture quality in big screen entertainment.

"We hope film-fans are excited as us at the return of the big screen where films like this are supposed to be seen.”
