TRANMERE Rovers' boss Mike Jackson has made his second signing as the club prepares for next season.

He has signed midfielder Ollie Banks on a new one-year contract.

The 27-year-old midfielder played an integral role in helping Rovers win promotion from Sky Bet League Two in 2019 and scored in the Play-Off semi-final victory against Forest Green Rovers.

Banks has firmly established himself as a fans favourite at Prenton Park.

Mike Jackson - who brought in former Premier League midfielder Jay Spearing on a two-year contract last week - said he was over the moon that Banks has agreed a new contract.

Banks is now ready to kick on and can't wait to start working with manager Jackson, someone he knows extremely well.

Banks said: "Working with Jacko and his team is a massive reason why I want to stay at Tranmere.

"As soon as I found out that Jacko was going to be the new gaffer, it made me want to stay even more if I am completely honest.

“Jacko is a very positive coach and I am sure he will take that into being a manager.”

"Obviously with what happened last season and the uncertain times we have had in recent months around the world, it is nice to be back at the Campus.

“It is nearly five months since I was last at the training ground, it is good to see the boys and I can’t wait to get back playing football for Tranmere Rovers."
