NORTHWICH Town Council has taken action to try to reduce level of anti-social behaviour occurring at Danefields Play area.

This follows town council staff, ward councillors and PCSOs visiting the estate and speaking with residents to highlight any concerns they had.

The main worry raised was the amount of anti-social behaviour occurring at the park during evenings.

To reduce this, Northwich Town Council staff will lock the park from 7pm each evening, with the gates being reopened at 8am.

Town clerk Chris Shaw said: “During July, I was invited to walk around Danefields and speak with residents to see if they had any concerns.

Northwich Guardian:

“Most residents raised anti-social behaviour in the play area, which is under our ownership, and these concerns were discussed.

“Following this, I have instructed our staff to open and lock this play area on a daily basis to hopefully reduce the level of anti-social behaviour.

The play area will open at 8am and will close at 7pm each evening. Opening hours will reduce in winter months, when the site will be locked at dusk.

“The area will also be cleaned and checked every day for damage.”

A £70,000 project by Northwich Town Council to completely refurbish the play area was completed in July 2016.
