A FORMER Royal Navy engineering officer who served in the Falklands War has taken the helm as Northwich Rotary Club's new president.

Lincolnshire-born Tony Rowe went on to spend four years in Ontario, Canada, before settling in the north west in 1987.

His later career has involved nuclear safety analysis, sales and project management before retiring in 2012 – one year before becoming a Rotarian.

Tony, a committee member at the River Weaver Navigation Society and member of the Jaguar Enthusiasts' Club, will now lead the club as the Northwich community recovers from the pandemic.

He said: "I look forward to working together with the other two Rotary Clubs in Northwich to continue to do all we can to support the local community under the banner 'Rotary in Northwich' and to develop our existing relationships with major stakeholders in the town.
