DINERS in Wilmslow and the surrounding areas will soon be able to enjoy money off their meals thanks to the Government’s Eat Out to Help Out scheme.

The initiative has been designed to encourage more people to dine out again and feel safe and confident about doing so following the easing of coronavirus restrictions.

Chancellor Rishi Sunak said: "Our restaurants, cafes and bars play a vital role in our economy, employing more than a million people.

"They have been hit hard by coronavirus, so it’s vital we do everything we can to help them recover.

"Our Eat Out to Help Out scheme is designed to get more customers through the door – protecting jobs by giving businesses the confidence to retain and hire staff."

Those hospitality businesses that have signed up can offer up to a 50 per cent reduction, up to a maximum of £10 per person, for food or non-alcoholic drinks to eat or drink in.

The scheme will be valid all-day Monday to Wednesday between August 3 and 31.

Businesses will be able to reclaim the discounted amount through on online service supported by HM Revenue and Customs.

More than 53,000 outlets across the UK have so far signed up to the Government’s Eat Out to Help Out scheme.

Participating outlets will display Eat Out to Help Out stickers and posters in their windows, and diners are advised to look out for the logo.
