IT has been a busy July for members of the Rotary Club of Northwich Vale Royal as members welcomed their new incoming president.

President Bill Kendrick and first vice-president Nigel Barrington-Smith were both installed into their respective roles at their inauguration earlier this month, which was quickly followed by the induction of their latest member, Matt Eagles.

Bill, who took over the presidential jewel from Kerry Brudenell, lives in Hartford and has been a member of the club for 30 years, having joined because he wanted to give something back to the place he’s called home for almost 50 years.

He is thrilled to be taking up the position and enthusiastic about continuing the group’s altruistic work during his year in post.

He said: “We have a wonderful town, and there are some fantastic people in it. It’s very important to be able to give something back.”

Amongst the causes the 78-year-old and fellow members will be championing is the Northwich Isolation Support Group which helps those who are isolated, vulnerable, elderly or in need.

To date the club has donated more than £2,000 to the group to buy essential items and food which are then distributed throughout the local community. In addition, 13 members are helping to collect other essential items donated by local supermarkets.

Bill added: “It’s a real privilege to have been given this position to manage the club to help other people less fortunate than ourselves.”

During the inauguration ceremony, Bill gave thank you certificates members Billie Pickstock and Trevor Meech, for their support of Northwich Isolation Support Group.
