PLANS have been lodged with Cheshire East Council to modernise the Shell garage in Adlington Road.

The firm is hoping to demolish the existing sales building to make way for a replacement, with additional parking space including a future bay for electric vehicle charging.

If approved, the new building will be bigger than the current one, at 270sq m compared to 87sq m today.

JMS Planning and Development, representing Shell, says this will provide 'an improved shopping environment and better facilities for customers'.

In its planning application, the firm said: "The application represents new inward investment into Cheshire.

"The application will provide improved roadside infrastructure and additional consumer choice for users of the highway network in the Dean Row vicinity and local community.

"It will improve the customer offer and experience on site to meet an existing customer demand."

CEC wants to make a decision on the plans by Thursday, August 13.

Comments must be submitted by Wednesday, July 22.
