A FRAUDSTER who sold fake designer items to people online has been convicted.

Dipesh Tailor sold counterfeit items in Bracknell, Crowthorne and Wokingham Facebook selling groups.

Following a lengthy investigation by Trading Standards and the Public Protection Partnership, Tailor was found guilty on January 29 this year.

Tailor used an alias of Patrick Murphy to sell goods like Nike, Armani and Chanel on the local Facebook groups.

Officer’s from the PPP Trading Standards service test purchased five items which were subsequently confirmed to be counterfeit Nike, Armani and Chanel goods.

After carrying out the test purchases, a joint operation with Thames Valley Police took place and Mr Tailor was arrested.

A search of his vehicle revealed a further 31 counterfeit items.

Dipesh Tailor was sentenced at Reading Crown Court on 24 June, after entering a guilty plea to 15 offences relating to the sale and possession of counterfeit goods during July and August 2018.

He was sentenced to 80 hours unpaid work and 20 days rehabilitation activity.

He is due back in court in November 2020 in relation to the prosecution request for confiscation under the Proceed of Crime Act 2002, whereby assets acquired from the criminal activity can be confiscated by the courts.

The Public Protection Partnership is a shared service of Bracknell Forest Council, West Berkshire Council and Wokingham Borough Council and delivers trading standards, environmental health and licensing functions.
