Alderley Edge’s men played a singles stableford and Vidal Spaine led in with 40 points, two more than John Newsham, Gary Olson and Andrew Slater.

Rugby:

Carole Weston has started as the new catering manager at Wilmslow Rugby Club. Her role also includes commercial development responsibilities as the club actively aims to attract new events, sponsors and visitors to Pownall Park.

She has worked in catering and hospitality for many years, including at Manchester Rugby Club for the past five years.

Carole has also catered for Sale Sharks at Carrington, providing post-training meals during the 2005 to 2007 campaigns which was an extremely successful period for the Sharks.

She is looking forward to making an impact on the breadth of events which are hosted at Pownall Park each year.

“I really do hope to bring something fresh to Wilmslow and provide good quality food at reasonable prices,” said Carole. “There’s so much scope at such a well presented and located facility and I aim to encourage more club members and local residents to hire our facilities.”

Hockey:

CCTV coverage of the pitch has been upgraded at Wilmslow Hockey Club.

This is to ensure that club chiefs have enhanced capabilities to monitor use of the pitch remotely at all times.

Anti-vandal paint has also been applied to the astro cage to deter anyone trying to climb over the fence on to the pitch, a necessity as a result of several recent intrusions. The catch net at the Styal Road end of the astro pitch has been re-hung.
