CONTROVERSIAL plans to build 15 new homes on the former bowling green of a Lostock Gralam pub have been pulled.
The application submitted by applicant The Regenda Group relates to land at the side of The Slow and Easy pub on Manchester Road.
Outline planning permission for the development was granted in January 2018, with the most recent application detailing the layout of the proposed development.
Documents submitted to Cheshire West and Chester Council stated that the 15 homes would be a mix of two and three bedroom properties ranging from two to two and a half stories in height.
The development would also include 28 parking spaces.
But the future of the site is now up in the air after the planning application was shelved.
The development was branded as ‘ridiculous' by Stephen Lamb, then-landlord of The Slow and Easy, in February last year.
He told the Guardian: “The pub has been going from strength to strength, so it’s such a shame to see the latest plans.
“The pub is the heart of the community and we have a lot of events and charity days. The bowling green has been used as a beer garden and used for a community bonfire and Christmas markets.
“If they get these plans passed, the houses will be so close and we are going to get complaints.
“You can imagine that people will be outside smoking – we are open until midnight on weekends – and people will complain.”
