THE Countess of Chester Hospital Trust has recorded one additional death of a patient testing positive for coronavirus in the latest 24-hour reporting period.

NHS England data released this afternoon (July 1) shows that, as of 5pm yesterday, the total number of deaths registered by the trust – which covers both the Chester and Ellesmere Port hospital sites – rose to 210.

It comes after the trust had not reported any additional deaths for three consecutive days.

The data shows that the death sadly occurred on June 29.

The Cheshire hospital death toll now stands at 692 with the Countess and Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (210) registering the most, followed by East Cheshire NHS Trust (139) and Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (133).

As of 4pm yesterday, Cheshire West and Chester has had 1,245 confirmed cases of coronavirus – the same amount as the previous 24 hours.

Across England, a further 50 people – up from 37 yesterday – who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals to 28,759.

Patients were aged between 52 and 97 years-old. Two patients, aged 52 and 63, had no known underlying health conditions.

Today, 14 deaths are reported with no positive Covid-19 test result.
