A 'HIGH risk' paedophile was caught searching for naked images of children online just three months after his release from prison.

Karl Marper was jailed at Reading Crown Court in 2017 and made subject to a sexual harm prevention order.

The 51-year-old of Abingdon Road, Oxford, was handed another jail term yesterday for flouting that order by having internet enabled devices and searching for child abuse images.

Marper had already admitted three counts of breaching his court order.

He appeared for sentencing at Oxford Crown Court yesterday.

Prosecutors said that after he was released from prison in February he moved in to a bail hostel.

Police went to that hostel on May 4 to check on him, and during that visit he confirmed to officers that he had a number of internet-enabled devices which he was forbidden from possessing.

He had on him a smart phone, a Playstation 3 and a smart television.

It was also revealed that he had made efforts to search for illicit material involving children, with search terms used including 'boys f***ing' and 'naked boys.'

In mitigation defence barrister James Reilly said that his client made 'full admissions' at interview and to the officers who attended his room.

He added: "He obviously has a problem, he knows he has a problem, and he has taken steps to speak to his offender manager.

"He does not want to continue doing what he has been doing."

Sentencing, Judge Ian Pringle QC said: "These breaches were committed very shortly after you were in a position to breach them.

"And you have a history of disobedience of court orders."

Marper was jailed for a total of 16 months and he must pay a statutory victim surcharge.
