IN 1970 one of the most famous names on the High Street arrived in Bolton.
Marks and Spencer moved into a brand new building on Deansgate as part of the town centre’s modernisation.
The new three-storey building really was ‘made in Bolton’ because the framework for the building used more than 700 tons of steelwork fabricated and erected by John Booth and Sons of the Hulton Steelworks.
