HOPE Central foodbank at The Welcome at Longridge has received another batch of hand sanitiser from David Clayton and Ben Kaberry from Mobberley-based Big Hill Distillery.

David said: “It's great to support the local foodbanks that provide such an important service to families in the local area.

“None of it happens by accident, with such a large group of volunteers to help run the food bank service."

The distillery has supplied the food bank with three litres of sanitiser, the first batch being handed over in April.

David added: "During the coronavirus lockdown some north west distilleries have completely switched their operation from spirits production to hand sanitiser production to limit lost revenue.

"We haven't done that as we would rather stay focused on gin and ride it out, but we are still able to make hand sanitiser as an add-on, not for sales, but to give away where it's most needed.

“We just needed to source ingredients like glycerine, aloe vera gel and hydrogen peroxide to make it possible."
