SNAIL racing fans helped to raise £6,000 for the We Are Knutsford support group on Saturday.
The online race night ran from from 7pm to 9pm, in support of the Knutsford2you ‘Pay What You Want’ food shop and people in financial crisis across Knutsford due to the coronavirus pandemic.
A total of £3,000 was raised from the 37 tickets sold for the evening and race sponsorship from local businesses, and the total was doubled by Barclays Bank.
Claire Sawyer from We Are Knutsford, which organised the evening, thanked Barclays for matching the total raised, and everyone who took part and sponsored the races.
The compere for the evening was Colin Banks, who will be live a specially-built website.
There were eight animated snail races, with eight snails in each, and each team picked which snail they thought would win.
Everyone watched the races together, cheering on their snails, with the teams picking the winning snails receiving points.
The races were sponsored by the Rotary Club of Knutsford, Speedy Freight, Tatton Brewery, Sheldons Dairy, Heightsafe, B34 Creative, Honcho and Barclays.
