COMMUNITY group volunteers have received some well-deserved treats to thank them for their efforts.

Members of Home Grown in Holmes Chapel provide planters and beds of fruit and vegetables, and held a Plant Swap on Saturday.

To thank the volunteers for their work they were presented with a bag of goodies by Alison Wright, Co-op Member Pioneer for Holmes Chapel.

Knutsford Guardian:

Alison said: “We are so lucky in Holmes Chapel to have Home Grown in Holmes Chapel providing us with the most eye-catching planters and beds full of fruit and vegetables.

“A team of volunteers have been tending to these throughout lockdown, and on Saturday invited everyone to a Plant Swap, ensuring that social distancing was observed.

There was a huge array of plants of all varieties - tomatoes of every type, chillis, raspberries - the list was endless.

“Help and advice was also available from the volunteers for planting and growing the plants at home, again all managed at a safe distance.

Knutsford Guardian:

“To start off celebrating volunteers and the work they do in our community for Volunteers’ Week 2020, I presented Sue Mitchell and the other volunteers with a small token of goodies from the Co-op from our community to them - a bag of biscuits and treats.”

Sue said: “Many thanks to the Co-op and Alison for the kind donation to Home Grown for all the work we do in the village.

“I’ll be saving as much as I can for later in the year when we might be able to do some bed maintenance as a group.”
