CHILDREN and adults are busy making sure their gardens are looking their best for their photoshoot.

Gardeners young and old are sending in pictures of their prized outdoor areas for this year’s Front Garden competition run by Knutsford Town Council. The competition is open for entries until Friday, June 12.

The competition usually only consists of a Front Garden category, but due to the coronavirus pandemic has been expanded to include two extra categories.

To recognise the time residents have been spending gardening during the lockdown the competition also includes a back garden category and one to recognise children’s gardening efforts by way of decorating plant pots or other demonstration with children’s efforts to help with the gardening.

A front garden entry

The categories are - front Garden – enter your street-facing front garden that people can see as they pass by on their daily walks (3 prizes).

Back Garden – if you don’t have a front garden or have been spending a lot of time tending to your rear garden, you can enter this category (1 prize).

Children’s Gardening – if your child has tended their own space, or even if they’ve just decorated a plant pot you can enter them in this category (3 prizes).

To enter take a photo of your front or rear garden with as much of the garden in one photo as possible – landscape photos are preferable for this.

Send the photo to dan.wheatcroft@knutsfordtowncouncil.gov.uk and include your name and full Knutsford address. Winners will be announced in late June.

Let the council know which category you are entering. If you are entering the children’s category, let the council know the child’s name and what gardening efforts they have made you are entering them for (including at least one photo).

You can also enter someone else’s garden by taking a photo of the garden and sending it too along with the full address (and the owner’s name if possible).

The entries are usually judged in person by a panel of judges, but this year will be judged by the photo entries which are received, so make sure your photos are clear and include a good view of your garden.

There will be three winners as usual for the Front Garden competition, one for the bonus Back Garden competition, and three for the Children’s Gardening competition.
