Citizens Advice Wirral is urging people not to ignore any debts they have during the coronavirus pandemic.

While there is a temporary hold on bailiff action and evictions due to the current crisis, there is a real concern that once these actions resume, people will find themselves in great financial hardship.

Carol Johnson-Eyre, Chief Executive Officer at Citizens Advice Wirral said: “Since the pandemic we have seen half the number of people asking for help with their debts. This is very worrying as although action against debts are currently paused, the debt has not gone away.

"People need to take action now to manage their debts. If they are not sure where to start or need some help we are here to help them.

Additionally, the number of people receiving a reduced income due to furlough, or losing their jobs means that more people are struggling to pay their bills, and they are starting to get into debt.
