PEOVER Superior Primary School pupil Henry Whitworth and his mum Janna were amazed by the support for their cake sale for the NHS.

They were hoping to raise £50 for NHS Charities Together, but raised £600 after more than 100 parents, friends and residents came along to support the event.

"We wanted to do something for the doctors and nurses, who are doing such an amazing job," said Janna, who is chairman of the school's PTA.

"We couldn't believe how many people came along. We had three tables full of cakes, and completely sold out.

"Everyone is so supportive and thoughtful, and we would like to thank everyone."
Henry, six, and Janna were helped with the cake sale by Henry's brother Alexander, four, who starts at Peover Superior in September.

The sale was held in a field to enable people to maintain social distancing, gloves were used and donations were invited for the cakes.

Fellow Peover Superior pupil Hollie Whitmore raised £155 for the NHS charities by selling cakes at her home on VE Day, with the help of her mum Caroline.

Special thanks went to Buns Out Baking, Nika’s Cakes and The Little Treat Box for donating cakes for the sales, and to the many neighbours and residents being so generous with their time and money.
