THE We Are Knutsford group has teamed up with Hope Central food bank at The Welcome to help ensure everyone in the town has enough to eat during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Knutsford2you initiative is a community-based food box delivery service, providing healthy, nutritious and affordable food boxes to homes in the WA16 postcode area.

Claire Sawyer from We Are Knutsford said: “We want to ensure everyone in our town has enough food to eat during the Covid-19 outbreak.

Knutsford Guardian:

The Fresh Box

“We know that some households are struggling financially at the moment, and providing food is a practical way that we can help.

“By delivering healthy, nutritious food to your door and inviting you to make a donation we hope we can support people in Knutsford at this difficult time. “

The scheme offers two boxes, which contain essentials and fresh food.

Knutsford Guardian:

Cupboard Essentials

Claire added: “We let you decide how much you can donate towards the suggested cost of each of our boxes.

“We charge a minimum donation of just £2 for the Cupboard Essentials box and £5 for the Fresh Box. What you can afford to donate helps us to help others.

“We ask you to pay by bank card so we can verify your details. Don’t worry if you don’t have a bank card or can’t pay the minimum donation for the box.

“You can choose the option to pay nothing at the checkout, and one of our trusted volunteers will call you to verify your details in confidence before the order is processed.

“Your box will be delivered the next working day – just like any other box order, and we are happy to receive an order from anyone in Knutsford - WA16 postcodes.

“We do however have a limited number of boxes, so would ask you to please just order what you need, and we are only able to offer one of each box per household.”

A typical essentials box includes pasta, rice, tuna, beans, tinned tomatoes, tinned peas/sweetcorn, soup, tea, coffee, fruit juice, cereal, UHT milk, sugar, custard, herbs and spices. The essentials boxes are fulfilled by Hope Central at The Welcome.

Knutsford Guardian:

A typical box of fresh food includes peppers, onions, spinach, garlic, apples, carrots, potatoes, bread, butter, milk, eggs, cheese, mince, sausages, wraps.
