KNUTSFORD Hosts are helping to create much-needed scrubs for GPs and nurses.

The Hosts are used to supporting the town’s events, organisations and local charities. However with events, fundraisers and social activities cancelled or postponed, the focus of the community group has switched to supporting new types of community need.

“The Hosts are part of all the main events, but the volunteering behind the scenes, such as reading at Manor Park, visiting residents at Sharston House and Talking Newspapers, also stopped overnight,” said Hosts chairman Sarah Flannery.

“Like everyone else we were thrown into uncharted territory, but we are adapting as we go.”

Many Hosts are signed up as NHS and We Are Knutsford volunteers, but the day-to-day emphasis for the Hosts remains very local. Shopping, gardening, deliveries and phone counselling for elderly or vulnerable neighbours and friends are key activities, with several partners and even family dogs now also involved with chauffeuring duties and dog walking.

Many Hosts with sewing machines have also been busy helping to sew scrubs for GPs and nurses.
