TODAY it's time for us to raise a glass to the town's 1945 heroes.

And lots of you have been decorating your homes in red, white and blue in VE Day tributes.

While social-distancing measures mean that many have not been able to go to the shops to find bunting or other decorations, it's been lovely to see people have chalked bunting patterns on their walls or made their own with string and plastic bags.

Keep your pictures coming into us using the form below and keep scrolling to see some of our favourites so far.

How are you celebrating the 75th anniversary of VE Day?

"Send us your pictures if you have decorated your house or throwing a 'stay at home' party"

We asked for your responses - this is what you sent.

From Charlotte Mckinlay

What is your response?Celebrating VE day in lockdown. Myself Charlotte Mckinlay and my mum Emma Parr attend many 1940s living history events with our other reenactor/living history friends across the country. Since we all couldn't be together to celebrate due to the coronavirus, we have all decorated our front gardens in red, white and blue. We have all been out enjoying our own little tea parties, dressed in our uniforms (myself in ATS) or vintage outfits, put on displays, played ww2 music and singing along over facetime and with our neighbours at a distance. We'll meet again. From Charlotte and Emma

What is your response?Spent the morning baking just as my grandmother would have done getting ready to celebrate later with her family. When I’d finished I enjoyed some great wartime tunes in the garden in the sun with a cheeky 3pm toast to celebrate VE Day.
