Prestatyn bowlers build sewing volunteer army to help kit out staff at hospitals and doctors' surgeries in North Wales with scrubs and uniform bags

Veronica Ball and Christine Mottershead, bowlers at Ffrith Bowls Club, teamed up and joined the For the Love of Scrubs facebook website with aims of helping a couple of nurses with uniforms.

This quickly snowballed in to a much bigger task and support for what they were doing 'tsunamied'.

Both women are working about 18 hours a day with a team of voluntary stitchers.

The group now desperately need funding to help them continue with their efforts.

Veronica said: "We are supplying home made personal protection kits of scrubs and scrub bags to local hospitals and doctors' surgeries all over North Wales. This includes Healthy Prestatyn.

"We delivered their outfits this week and they were so delighted they sent us a photograph of the doctors wearing the scrubs we had made for them.

"Christine is on her machine all day and most of the night.

"I have recruited teams of voluntary stitchers and delivery volunteers to make and transport vitally needed outfits to our hospitals," Veronica added.

"We are in desperate need of funds.

Collecting kind donation from laundry in Chester. Hardly room for the driver!

"We are more than happy to give our time but we just cannot afford to buy the material needed to make the Scrubs.

"Even £5 from each person that can help would enable us to buy material needed to make kits that will help us save lives."
