THE Kingsmead Wrigglers will be out in the estate this weekend raising a smile and cash for the NHS.

More than 100 residents took part in the second dance last Sunday morning, and organiser Sharon Power hopes the fun continues with more participants this weekend.

She said: "We started on Saturday, we put the message out on the Kingsmead Facebook page, and I have got my own fitness business on the estate so they saw it too.

"We got about four or five roads involved on the Saturday, on the Sunday there were seven roads involved and I am hoping it grows this weekend with more and more people getting on board.

"We kept it as the YMCA on both days last weekend as everyone knows it, but we want to do Agadoo on Saturday and the Macarena on Sunday.

"We want to get as many people involved as possible. We had 37 on the Saturday and that jumped to 102 on the Sunday that we are aware of."

As well as raising spirits at 10am each Saturday and Sunday, Sharon is hoping to raise funds for the NHS charities during the coronavirus crisis.

"Hopefully friends and family from other places will see it online and donate," she added.

"There were people socially isolating who were dancing through their window, which was lovely because it brought a smile on their face and hopefully it is something they will look forward to.

"It’s just a way of trying to keep the community together while we all have to keep our distance."

The Kingsmead Wrigglers have raised more than £110 so far.
