CARE watchdogs say there has been major improvements at Knutsford Supported Living Network in Westfield Drive.

The Cheshire East Council-run service provides care and support to people living in a 'supported living' setting so they can live in their own homes as independently as possible.

There were 24 people being supported by the service at the time of the latest inspection by the Care Quality Commission at the end of February.

The CQC said the previous rating for the service in February 2019 was that it required improvement, and there were multiple breaches of regulation.

A CQC report said: “The provider completed an action plan after the last inspection to show what they would do and by when to improve.

At this inspection we found improvements had been made and the provider was no longer in breach of regulations.”

The service was given a rating of ‘good’ for every area which was looked at during the inspection.

The report said: “Enough staff were employed to meet the needs of the people supported by the service.

“Staff had developed positive relationships with people and had a good understanding of their needs.

“People were protected from the risk of harm and abuse. Clear policies and procedures were in place and staff felt confident to raise any concerns they had.”

The report said medication was managed safely, and staff had access to medicines policies and procedures as well as best practice guidelines.

Medication administration records (MARs) were consistently completed and audited to identify any areas for development and improvement.

The report added: “Staff understood how to minimise the risk of infection being spread and had access to personal protective equipment.

“People's independence was promoted and their privacy and dignity was respected.

“People and their relatives spoke positively about the staff and management team. Staff were described as kind, caring and accommodating.

“People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice.”
