CHAINSAW wood sculptor Lucinda Brito has used her creative skills to say thank you to NHS staff for their heroics during the coronavirus pandemic.
Lucinda lives in the village of Rostherne, and has created a huge, smiling face from the ivy which grows on the side of her house.
She said: “I created the face to say thank you to the NHS, who are risking their lives every day helping us on the frontline, and all the farmers who are continually working to feed the country.
“I also wanted to put a smile on my neighbours’ faces.
“Hopefully not too many people will see it, because there shouldn’t be too many out and about.

“The farmers will see it, and the tractor drivers, and the NHS staff going to work, and my lovely neighbours. Rostherne is a beautiful village with a fantastic community.”
To create the face Lucinda cut back some of the leaves and painted over the roots.
She climbed a ladder despite her fear of heights when she created the face, although she stressed that when she created a wood sculpture she used safe scaffolding.
Lucinda was born in Knutsford, and lived and travelled abroad for 25 years before settling in Rostherne in 2003. She started carving full-time more than five years ago.
