JULIA Chard is to deliver sweet treats to people in Knutsford after seeking advice from Cheshire East Council and Trading Standards.

Julia closed Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe in Knutsford because of the coronavirus pandemic, but is to start delivering and posting out orders.

She said: “After receiving requests to deliver sweets and gifts in the local area we have spoken to Cheshire East Council and Trading Standards, who have confirmed that we can offer a delivery/postal service as we are a 'food business'.

Knutsford Guardian:

“I have created a new Mr Simms Knutsford Facebook page, and received 30 orders after asking people whether they wanted deliveries.

“I am overwhelmed by the support, and also asked the Knutsford community to make me rainbows to put in our shop window, and post or put them through the door of the shop.”

She thanked everyone for their rainbow pictures, and said every family which had made a picture would receive a bag of sweets.

Julia will be working in the shop on her own dealing with the orders, will operate sanitising, safety and social distancing procedures, and payment for goods will be by telephone. Orders will be by telephone or email.

People are asked to message Julia on the Mr Simms Knutsford Facebook page with a name and contact number if they would like to place an order.

Knutsford Guardian:

There is a minimum order of £10, and delivery will be free in the local area.

Julia added: “We make hampers, sweet bombs and gifts, along with our top-selling pick and mix, traditional sweets, handmade chocolate bars, luxury fudge and more.
