GAUNTLET Bird of Prey, Eagle and Vulture Park is appealing for support from the public during the coronavirus lockdown.

The park closed on March 21 to the public, and has launched an appeal to raise £1,000 to help support the vultures during the site’s temporary closure.

Anyone who would like to help can donate here

A Gauntlet spokesman said: “We have been inundated with offers to help and support the birds through what will be a financially difficult time understandably.

“We rely on your admissions, experience day purchases, memberships and sponsorships for our income.

“Our staff are working around the clock to ensure the birds continue to be well looked after until we can open the doors again.

“So we have set up our JustGiving page as a way for you guys to help us if you so wish.

“Any amount donated will be gratefully received and will go towards the birds' upkeep during closure.

“Our monthly food bill can reach over £800, and if you can help us during this difficult time we would be forever grateful.

“You can donate any amount you wish, and we have some offers for specific donation amounts. Once donated we will email you an e-voucher to use within 18 months once we have reopened.”

If you donate £15 you will receive a family admission for two; £25 - family admission up to 2 adults and 3 children; £45 - a Simply Owls experience for one plus spectator; £90 – a Vulture flying experience for one; £200 - a five-year membership to Gauntlet for one.

The spokesman added: “All of us at Gauntlet would again like to thank you for your support and generosity during this time.

“It really hits home that what we do is appreciated so much. Thank you also from our feathered friends.”
