KNUTSFORD Mayor Cllr Andrew Malloy is appealing for donations for the Hope Central food bank at The Welcome, which he said was under increasing pressure during the coronavirus lockdown.

Speaking on the Knutsford Town Council’s Facebook page, he said: “I would appeal to you, if you are able and if you can, please when you are doing your shopping could you please buy a few extra items to go to the food bank, ideally non-perishable goods.

“There are collection points at The Welcome between 9.30am and 2pm on weekdays, and some supermarkets also have deposit bins such as the Co-op and Booths.

“Your donations would be gratefully received by all those who need help at this time.”

Referrals or appeals for foodbank support can be logged via 01565 817444, 0800 118 1692, or using the email help@weareknutsford.org

He added: “I would also urge you to look out for and consider the homeless at this time.

“If you are aware of anyone in such a situation please let We Are Knutsford know, and we will do our best to get help to them.

“It is a difficult time, but we are Knutsford, and together we will come through this. I would urge you – stay home, stay safe and save lives.”

We Are Knutsford has well over 200 volunteers, who can offer help with shopping, prescription runs, signposting and much more.

Toft Cricket Club’s monthly pub quiz is going online on Tuesday, March 31, streaming live at 7pm to the living rooms of Knutsford and beyond.

"We're putting on this quiz for free to support vulnerable members of the local community via the We Are Knutsford Just Giving page," said the organisers, who are hoping to raise £500.
