POLICE are asking parents to question their children’s reasons for going out in the evening during the coronavirus outbreak after a fire at Lindow Common last night (Thursday).
Youths are believed to have started a fire near a bench on the common, with glass, cannabis butts and bottles of alcohol being found in the area.
PCSO Kerry Hancock visited the common this morning after reports of a fire being started last night.
She posted on twitter on via Wilmslow West and Chorley Police: “Incidents like this cause a great demand on the NHS, a great demand for firefighters, and a demand for us, which we do want to be responding to right now in the current climate.
“Had there have been an accident last night somebody would have ended up in hospital taking up a bed of somebody that may have needed it.
“So please, if your children are leaving the house in the evening question them - why are they going out - do they understand the consequences?
“Maybe somebody does know who it was, and we can be having strong words with them.”
