WILMSLOW Animal Sanctuary has closed to the public and has stopped its rehoming because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The organisation said: “We regret to inform everybody that we have had to make the decision to close the doors to the public and our rehoming has stopped.

“The health and safety of our staff is paramount. If any of our staff were to get ill our animals simply would not have anybody to look after them, and it is a risk we cannot take.

“It is also our responsibility to keep our staff fit and well.

“For the foreseeable future volunteers or visitors must not come on site. This means that we will not be able to take calls.

“This is a sad but sensible decision we have to make. Thank you to our amazing volunteers for your hard work and compassion it means so much.

“We thank everybody for your continued support at this difficult time.

“As a charity, we've always relied on the generosity of kind supporters to enable us to continue our work and we have no doubt you will continue to do so through these uncertain times.

“Please be assured we'll continue to do everything that we can for our animals and they will continue to receive the highest quality of care we always deliver time and time again, this will not stop us.

“Stay safe everybody. We will get through this together.”
