JULIA Chard is donating her Easter stock to Knutsford food bank after closing Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe in Knutsford because of the coronavirus pandemic.

She said: “On Saturday I had strict social distancing in the shop, with only one family allowed at a time in the shop, a line in front of the counter, asking people not to pick up an item unless buying and sanitising and handwashing all day.

“I served more than 160 customers during the day, which was a huge number when people are meant to be staying at home.

“This is what made my mind up to close, as I have a duty of care to my customers, my staff and my family.

“I would like to thank my customers for their continued support, and am donating all my chocolate bunnies to the Hope Central food bank.”
