RESIDENTS have been thanked for their 'amazing' support for today's Operation Flyer Drop to publicise a COVID-19 support group.
A team of volunteers delivered thousands of leaflets across the town to tell people about the We Are Knutsford group.
Volunteers were allocated a number of streets, and were asked to bring their own bag for the leaflets, with strict hygiene and non-contact procedures in place.
The group was the idea of Claire Sawyer, who said: "We had the most amazing response, and within 90 minutes of opening all the streets had been taken.
"Also as a result of today we have done three shops for households running out of food.
"One of the volunteers handed leaflets out in Knutsford, and had an 80-year-old man crying to her because he’s been trapped in his house for a week not seeing anyone and he just wants to go out. It’s heartbreaking."
Town Mayor Cllr Andrew Malloy was among those who helped to deliver leaflets.
He said: "I got involved as we need to support the most vulnerable and isolated in our society during this health crisis."
The group is run by a team of volunteers offering help with shopping, employer and employee legal advice, food bank drop-off, collection of prescriptions, signposting to other services and someone to talk to if you are feeling lonely.

More than £1,000 has been donated to an appeal launched by the group in just two days.
Claire Sawyer added: "We Are Knutsford is a community group run exclusively by volunteers during this coronavirus Covid-19 outbreak.
"Supporting the most vulnerable in our society, especially those in vulnerable categories, those self-isolated and those forced to isolate to remain safe.
"The group will help with shopping trips, food bank drop-offs and deliveries, prescription collection, or just to be someone at the end of the phone.
"We would love to receive your support as we raise money to support those who are forced to withdraw from society.
"They may have lost their jobs and can't afford food and drink, or to pay their utility bills and keep warm.
"All the money raised will go to help these people, and anything left over when this is all over will be donated to Hope Central food bank based at The Welcome in Knutsford. Thank you for your wonderful support."
